SCHEUERLE SPMT presentation for Multilift Transportsysteme Germany in Pfedelbach

Practical training on the transporter combination.

When Multilift went to Pfedelbach to commission their new order of SCHEUERLE SPMTs, they also invited some clients to attend a SPMT performance on the SCHEUERLE premises.

With a new order of 24 SCHEUERLE SPMT axle lines, Multilift have extended their transporter fleet with a new product within their group. Multilift clients were also invited to visit SCHEUERLE Fahrzeugfabrik GmbH in Pfedelbach. The clients and Multilift staff were informed about the new transporter by the specialists on site. This event was a new type of exchange of experience for all participants.

The specific feature of this transporter presentation was the side-by-side coupling of three SPMTs (self-propelled modular transporter) with three axle lines each by means of a special frame. This configuration was used as a three-file combination in transverse direction – all the wheel bogies were turned through 90° by the steering electronic system. Such a combination is new and has never been used before. The advantage of this combination is a higher loading capacity than that of a single vehicle. Another advantage is the combination width, which is less than in four-file operation (i.e. two SPMTs side-by-side) and is usually used for heavier loads. This is frequently an important argument when the operating area is narrow.

Many clients took the opportunity to visit SCHEUERLE and, therefore, the event was held on two different days. The first group went to Pfedelbach on 01.10.2009, the second group a week later, on 08.10.2009. After a short reception by Jens Strecker, project manager of Multilift Transportsysteme Deutschland, and Thomas Riek and Ulrich Bochtler, both presidents of SCHEUERLE, the Multilift presentation was shown. Then SCHEUERLE was presented to the visitors.

During a short theoretical lesson from experienced transporter trainer Friedrich Messer, SPMT 3000 combinations and load cases were calculated using the SCHEUERLE Salsa programme. After that, there was a practical transporter presentation. All “students” were very curious.
A factory tour, in which the whole product range was introduced to the guests, gave some time for the SPMT 3000 combination to be loaded. Then the SPMT 3000 was presented again in loaded condition.

As the highlight of the day, the visitors were given the chance to operate the transporter themselves. The performance of the new transporter combination and the exchange of experience were very informative and successful.

SCHEUERLE is developing a new Salsa Programme in order to serve the clients’ requirements even better. The new Salsa Programme with its distinct extended functions will be presented at the BAUMA 2010 in Munich.
