Mammoet Wind A/S masters extraordinary transport challenge
Mammoet Wind A/S recently had to deal with a very special challenge in Denmark. The task was to transport three tower segments of a wind turbine along with a nacelle, which had a total weight of almost 700 tonnes, from the port in Hanstholm to the Østerild wind farm testing facility. In the process, one of the 228 t and 29 m high tower segments could only be transported vertically due to previously installed electrical components. However, with the help of sophisticated SPMT technology, this was no problem for Mammoet. Two hours faster than planned, the load reached its final destination 22 km away. Even on uneven road surfaces and gradients, safety and stability on SCHEUERLE SPMTs is always guaranteed so this extraordinary transport came to a successful conclusion without any problems.
The unparalleled robustness, flexible combinability together with the possibility of loading on flat racks in container dimensions make SCHEUERLE SPMTs a very cost-effective transport solution. In addition, the self-developed control system facilitates the precise positioning of even the heaviest of loads thanks to maximum manoeuvring ability. To date, unit weights of up to 17,200 t have already been moved on SPMTs of the TII Group.
